Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed College/CEGEP education or possess equivalent qualifications in the relevant field
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 year to less than 2 years
Credentials: 3rd Class Marine Engineer Certificate, 2nd Class Marine Engineer Certificate, Transport Canada Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced environment, being physically fit and able to meet the demands of a physically demanding role
  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure, maintaining composure, and delivering results in challenging situations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be accurate in their work, minimizing errors and ensuring precision, exhibiting excellent oral communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent written communication skills, producing accurate and articulate written content, and exhibit good judgment in decision-making and problem-solving
  • The candidates should be reliable team players, consistently delivering quality work and meeting expectations, collaborating effectively with colleagues to achieve common objectives

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate main engines, machinery, and auxiliary equipment on ships
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of the engine room crew
  • The candidates should be able to stand engine room watch, monitoring and noting the performance of engines, machinery, and all auxiliary equipment
  • The candidates should be able to maintain records and prepare reports on engine performance and failures
