Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language, having the knowledge of French language is an asset
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification although having bachelor Degree in applicable engineering field (mechanical or electrical) is preferred
Experience: Candidates need experience, the details are mentioned below

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to walk in job sites in uneven terrain and also maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder
  • The candidate should be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds and also regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push and pull.
  • The candidate should be able to lift up to 49 lbs and or work at heights and from ladders and also should be able to reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to serve as a technical resource to support Amazon within its data centers and also support mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime
  • The candidate should be able to work as respondents for electrical and mechanical issues affecting Amazon’s availability. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, switchboards/switch-gears, UPS’s, PDUs, AHU’s, CRAHUs, CRAC’s, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.
  • The candidate should be able to maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada
  • The candidate should be tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
  • The candidate should be able to work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations and also maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring 99.999% up-time of the world’s largest cloud computing portfolio
  • The candidate should be able perform roles that may support more than one location/site.
  • The candidate needs 3+ years of Data Center Operations, or Building operations experience or equivalent mission critical environment experience and also have technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years’ of equivalent experience in a relevant industry (for example: electrical or mechanical)
  • The candidate should have an in depth understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units and also be familiar with BMS and EPMS control systems and data collection/trending
  • The candidate should be proficient with maintenance management software (CMMS) and also have the ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • The candidate should have the ability to work on a rotating shift schedule.
    The candidate having electrical or Mechanical trade (Post Secondary Education) and also having 4+ years of Data Center experience is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to maintain and operate our critical infrastructure systems so that they are prepared to stand up against any situation
  • The candidate should be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center
  • The candidate should be able to drive projects with moderate complexity and also assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • The candidate should be able to perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings and facility management and also provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.
  • The candidate should be responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation and also perform and oversight of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
  • The candidate should be able to ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work and also perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management creation, writing procedures and building management systems.
