Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a four-year university degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, Finance, Environmental Studies/Sciences, Climate Change, or Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have up to four to six years of relevant experience in business analytics
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work under pressure and manage tight timelines across multiple projects, while demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills
- The candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, showing high levels of initiative and problem-solving capability
- The candidates should be willing to be away from home overnight occasionally for site visits and meetings and must be prepared to travel throughout Ontario
- The candidates should be capable of independently traveling to local or remote sites, communicating with stakeholders, and developing and implementing mitigation plans
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have knowledge and experience in Ontario and Canadian Greenhouse Gas Regulations, ISO 14064, the GHG Protocol, and industry best practices in carbon accounting
- The candidates should be familiar with National Pollutant Release Inventory, Blue Box, and Energy & Water Reporting and Benchmarking (EWRB) requirements
- The candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in climate change management, greenhouse gas reduction, and tracking
- The candidates should have direct experience with greenhouse gas reporting, relevant experience with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, CSDS, and CDP
- The candidates should have experience managing and quantifying corporate GHG inventories, including emissions forecasting
- The candidates should possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively prepare, edit, and present standards and procedures, and engage with professionals and the public, strong analytical and mathematical abilities with great attention to detail
- The candidates should be confident decision-makers and self-starters capable of working independently and managing competing priorities using sound judgment, possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to support Climate Change Mitigation Program goals, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2050
- The candidate should be able to manage data collection and quantification of Hydro One’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory across Scope 1, Scope 2, Avoided Emissions, and key performance indicators, while enhancing data accuracy and completeness; familiarity with Scope 3 emissions, collaborate with internal stakeholders to evaluate existing and emerging mitigation initiatives, estimate potential emissions reductions, and model GHG emission projections
- The candidate should be able to partner with various lines of business to identify, track, and report on environmental metrics in alignment with corporate sustainability goals, coordinate with Environmental Planners and external partners to estimate and quantify GHG emissions and co-benefits from nature-based climate solutions
- The candidate should be able to provide subject matter expertise in carbon accounting, offering analytical support and identifying continuous improvement opportunities, develop methodologies and lead studies focused on the co-benefits of nature-based climate solutions
- The candidate should be able to prepare reports, documentation, templates, and presentations related to GHG Inventory and progress towards emission reduction targets, supporting executive briefings, sustainability disclosures, and regulatory reporting
- The candidate should be able to lead continuous improvement initiatives for carbon accounting, including exploring and implementing data automation solutions with third-party vendors
- The candidate should be able to remain up to date on evolving sustainability disclosure standards and regulatory reporting frameworks relevant to the electric utility industry, perform other climate-related analytical and strategic duties
