Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a secondary (high) school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have three years’ experience to water or sewer systems
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have including one year of experience repairing, inspecting, and cleaning sewer collection systems
- The candidate should possess Level 2 Wastewater Collection Operator Certification from the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board
- The candidate should possess Level 2 Water Distribution Operator Certification from the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board
- The candidate should possess Level 3 Wastewater Collection Operator Certification from the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board
- The candidate should have successfully completed the core training module for heavy equipment operation, possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A or 3AG Driver’s Licence
- The candidate should provide a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record, comply with all safety-related requirements
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to operate hydro-excavation equipment, sewer cleaner trucks, and manhole vacuums for all types of sewer maintenance work, including soft-digging operations
- The candidate should be able to operate sewer cleaning machines and other related sewer maintenance equipment
- The candidate should be able to direct and train staff assisting with the operation of sewer cleaner trucks and manhole vacuums
- The candidate should be able to perform routine safety checks and minor servicing of equipment, such as checking fluid levels, greasing, and making minor maintenance adjustments
- The candidate should be able to transport machines, equipment, and crew trailers to and from work sites safely
- The candidate should be able to inspect and clean manholes, chambers, sewer mains, and superpipes manually or using equipment, operate pumps and miscellaneous equipment
- The candidate should be able to install road warning signs and barricades following approved standards respond professionally to enquiries and concerns from the public and contractors
- The candidate should be able to perform repairs to sewer and water equipment, maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed
- The candidate should be able to comply with current Occupational Health and Safety regulations, including confined space entry procedures, operate various types of equipment such as front-end loaders, skidsteers, and water trucks
- The candidate should be able to participate in ongoing training programs, including operator certification training as directed, perform other related duties
