Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have experience in providing cleaning services

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of conducting repetitive tasks
  • The candidates should be able to stand, bend, stretch, and work from ladders
  • The candidates should have the strength to lift supplies, tools, and equipment such as buckets and large bags of garbage
  • The candidates should be willing to dust and wash walls and windows
  • The candidates should be prepared to pick up litter and trash
  • The candidates should be ready to travel to various outdoor sites with exposure to weather elements
  • The candidates should be aware that they may be exposed to noxious odors from cleaning products
  • The candidates should be aware of the potential for minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities
  • The candidates should occasionally demonstrate tasks to others
  • The candidates should be willing to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment, and abide by the uniform policy
  • The candidates should be prepared to work and travel in varied terrain and weather conditions throughout the PRNPR work area
  • The candidates should have the physical capability to perform certain tasks as per job requirements, such as lifting up to 20 kg
  • The candidates should be able to handle stress when responding to fluctuating, unpredictable priorities
  • The candidates should be capable of performing NPR compliance activities

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of how to read and follow instructions for the use of cleaning products
  • The candidates should demonstrate a concern for safety by identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for themselves and others
  • The candidates should understand and apply enforcement policies to detect violations of legislation, identify conditions and/or persons responsible, and take appropriate action
  • The candidates should exhibit initiative by dealing with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise
  • The candidates should possess strong interactive communication skills, including listening to others and communicating articulately, fostering open communication (oral)
  • The candidates should exercise sound judgment in their decision-making
  • The candidates should excel in teamwork and be able to collaborate effectively with others

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to clean and maintain Green Point Campground and Day-Use area buildings, facilities, and grounds throughout the Long Beach Unit of the national park reserve
  • The candidates should be able to perform daily cleaning tasks, including but not limited to campground washroom and shower facilities, Day-Use area washrooms and outhouses, visitor centers, staff buildings, and other facilities
  • The candidates should be able to interact with national park reserve visitors to provide basic information and direction, perform litter picking, conduct compliance activities, and empty trash receptacles
