Van Huigenbos Farms Ltd. is a farm which deals with various animals, fruits, and vegetables, from which they supply various products to the markets. Shifts
: Day, Evening, Weekend, Overtime, Flexible Hours, Early Morning
Work setting: Rural area, Staff accommodation available
Supervision: 1 to 2 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 to less than 3 years’
Equipment and machinery experience: Automated manure handling or storage system, Bulk handling system, Feeding and watering system, Fertilizer applicator, Harvesters, Storage and silage system, Tractor

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, be physically demanding
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to sit, stand, walk for extended periods
  • The candidates should be willing to for overtime
  • The candidates should be able to handle large workload
  • The candidates should be able to work in beef cattle ranching and farming including feedlots, hay farming, grain farming, and other miscellaneous crop farming
  • The candidates should be able to work in dust, noise, odours, and outdoors

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be organized, reliable, should have excellent oral communication, and be able to work as a team player

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to feed inventory, do handling animals and monitoring animal health
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures, provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying or harvesting, co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers
  • The candidates should be able to develop work schedules and establish procedures, ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed, formulate feeding program, maintain livestock performance records
  • The candidates should be able to maintain quality control and production records, recognize and treat certain livestock health problems, select livestock for sale
  • The candidates should be able to maintain work records and logs, operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, perform general farm duties
