Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Masters degree in Agriculture or a related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have experience working with GIS

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable with the use of vehicles and all-terrain vehicles in rough terrain and isolated areas
  • The candidates should be able to work outdoors, under inclement weather, and with limited communication service

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a member of, or eligible for membership in the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists at the Professional Agrologist level (P.Ag) and must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence
  • The candidates should have a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with an emphasis in environmental studies, plant science, or animal science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidates should have experience in agronomy, crop production, forage production, rangeland production, or livestock production, and environmentally sustainable cropping and livestock practices
  • The candidates should have knowledge of issues and regulations related to livestock production and the ACL program in Manitoba and possess excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver effective presentations
  • The candidates should have excellent written communication skills and have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, organizations, and other stakeholders
  • The candidates should have experience using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook) or similar computer applications
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • The candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and deliver programming within agricultural crown lands, assisting primary agricultural producers with decisions regarding current, environmental, and sustainable production practices related to land management
  • The candidates should be able to provide provincial leadership and coordination in all aspects of agri-resource management, working with specific stakeholders and other branches to develop strategic plans and priorities
  • The candidates should be able to focus efforts on facilitating the adoption of beneficial management practices to support and protect provincial agri-environmental resources
  • The candidates should be able to focus efforts on developing and delivering information that facilitates the advancement of the livestock/crop sector in a profitable and sustainable manner
