den Haan Greenhouses based in Lawrencetown, NS is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Farm worker, fruit. den Haan Greenhouses specializes in growing a variety of plants, including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and strawberries, using hydroponic and other advanced growing techniques. We have implemented a number of green initiatives, including using renewable energy sources, reducing waste, and recycling water. We are a well-respected and established business in the Lawrencetown community, and are committed to supporting local organizations and initiatives. Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Area of specialization: Nursery or greenhouse
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be physically demanding, and a repetitive tasker
- The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
- The candidates should be able to stand, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
- The candidates should be able to handle Hand-eye co-ordination, and should have the ability to distinguish between colours
- The candidates should be able to work in outdoors, wet/damp area, noisy area, dusty area, odours, hot area, cold/refrigerated area, and fruit and vegetable combination farming
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be organized, flexible, judgmental
- The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorized (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to do cleaning crop, clipping, deleafing, grading, greenhouse cleaning
- The candidates should be able to hand harvesting vegetables
- The candidates should be able to do lowering, maintain and manage growth of vines, vine canopy and grapes, plant, cultivate and irrigate crops
- The candidates should be able to do shoot positioning, suckering, tying, vegetable culling
- The candidates should be able to do weeding, harvest crops, examine produce for quality and prepare for market, and grade products
