Paradise Valley Produce is located just outside of qathet on the Sunshine Coast, BC. Our farm land was once a successful goat dairy operation run by the Lambert Family in the 1900s. We are proud to be stewards of the land we are farming. We believe that growing healthy, organic food to be enjoyed locally is a small but vital step toward a more sustainable future. Salary: $15.65 to 18.00 hourly for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Full time, Seasonal employment
Job Type: Green job (Involves duties and responsibilities that lead to positive environmental outcomes and involves supporting green economy sectors)
Location: Powell River, BC
Shifts: Day, Early Morning and Morning
Work setting: Staff accommodation is available and relocation costs not covered by employer
Work site environment: Candidates should work in fruit and vegetable combination farming, organic farming and outdoors
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications such as a high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate or a diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Type of crops: Bell peppers, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflowers, Cucumbers, Garlic, Ginger, Melons, Raspberries, Strawberries, Tomatoes and Zucchinis
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to work in fast-paced environment, perform repetitive tasks, handle heavy loads, pay attention to detail, walk, stand for extended periods and also for bending, crouching, kneeling
- The candidate should be physically strong
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to clean crop, hoe crops, plant, cultivate and irrigate crops and also harvest crops
- The candidate should be able for hand harvesting vegetables, vegetable culling and also weeding
- The candidate should be able to examine produce for quality and prepare for market
