Salary: $15.00 to $16.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 36 to 44 hours per week

Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, To be determined, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation, valid driver’s licence
Work setting: Restaurant, formal dining room, staff accommodation available

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Computer and technology knowledge: Electronic cash register, Point of sale system
Own tools/equipment: Uniform
Credentials: Food and beverage server trade certificate, Food and Beverage Server Training, Food Safety Certificate, ProServe program
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working in cold/refrigerated environments, as well as in hot conditions
  • The candidates should be able to work in noisy environments and tolerate various odors
  • The candidates should be prepared for outdoor work
  • The candidates should be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling as necessary
  • The candidates should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure
  • The candidates should be capable of handling heavy loads and weights of up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • The candidates should be prepared for overtime when required and able to meet the physical demands of the job
  • The candidates should be comfortable standing for extended periods

  • The candidates should be client-focused and possess efficient interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication abilities and demonstrate flexibility
  • The candidates should show initiative and be organized in their approach
  • The candidates should be reliable team players

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure they are of legal age to mix and serve alcoholic beverages, and enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
  • The candidates should be able to address customers’ complaints or concerns, and provide customer service
  • The candidates should be able to prepare and serve specialty food at customers’ tables, describe menu items including daily specials, and advise on menu selections
  • The candidates should be able to present bills to customers and accept payment in cash, credit or debit cards, travellers cheques, or room billings, balance cash, and record sales
  • The candidates should be able to clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs, greet patrons, present menus, make recommendations, and answer questions regarding food and beverages
  • The candidates should be able to order and maintain inventory of wines and wine glassware, describe and advise on wine selection, and assist clients/guests with special needs
  • The candidates should be able to supervise other servers and bussing staff, take orders, relay them to kitchen and bar staff, and serve food and beverages
