Work setting: Construction, Various locations, Renovation, Maintenance and repair, Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Residential

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Own tools/equipment: Hard hat and Safety glasses/goggles

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable with activities such as bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • The candidates should be adaptable to a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The candidates should be capable of handling heavy loads
  • The candidates should be able to manage a large workload efficiently
  • The candidates should be willing to work overtime when required
  • The candidates should have the physical endurance for tasks that are physically demanding
  • The candidates should be able to work under tight deadlines
  • The candidates should be able to work in confined spaces
  • The candidates should be able to work in noisy conditions, dusty environments, and at heights

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be accurate in their work and have excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • The candidates should exercise good judgment in their responsibilities, be reliable in fulfilling their responsibilities, and uphold values and ethics in their professional conduct

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • The candidates should prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools, measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
  • The candidates should build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems, fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
  • The candidates should maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments
