Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be aware that hours may vary due to operational needs
  • The candidates should expect to work in a dock environment
  • The candidates should be prepared for exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a valid forklift certificate, which is preferred
  • The candidates should have the ability to lift and carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week
  • The candidates should have the ability to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds and open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more
  • The candidates should have the ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout their shift
  • The candidates should be able to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
  • The candidates should have basic written and verbal communication skills
  • The candidates should be able to follow instructions and complete the required training
  • The candidates should be able to work alone or as a team member

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including, but not limited to forklift, pallet jack, hand truck
  • The candidates should be able to comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • The candidates should be able to verify documentation matches freight description, including, but not limited to type, weight, and hazardous materials, using current electronic and manual systems
  • The candidates should be able to secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including, but not limited to pallets, straps, rope
  • The candidates should be able to recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
  • The candidates should be able to verify and complete required documentation and reports
  • The candidates should be able to assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties as required
