Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a Three (3) year diploma / degree or equivalent in Business, Education, Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Career Development, or any other program with a Cooperative Education component
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in the field of employment services, as a Co-op Student Advisor, Co-op Officer, or related experience in Employment, Career Services, Co-op, Counselling, Job Development, or Human Resources

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience developing and delivering services that prepare job seekers for employment
  • The candidates should have experience providing job searching and maintenance supports
  • The candidates should have experience creating job development opportunities, preferably in an academic setting

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide up-to-date employment and job search advising, assisting co-op students in preparing for the world of work through resume and cover letter work-sessions, interview preparation, self-directed job search, etc.
  • The candidates should be able to offer one-on-one coaching and conduct group sessions in-person or online to support students in their career development
  • The candidates should be able to develop and deliver presentations on employment topics, ensuring effective communication of information to the audience
  • The candidates should be able to emphasize the development of internal stakeholder relationships and effectively service and grow existing ones
  • The candidates should be able to work in close collaboration with other members of the Co-op and Career Centre, faculty, Chairs, and Administrators
  • The candidates should be able to develop and sustain relationships with a long list of external stakeholders to enhance the overall network and support system
  • The candidates should be able to advise, coach, and consult with students through their co-op preparation and job search activities, ensuring effective guidance and support
  • The candidates should be able to monitor student progress, utilizing data management and reporting for quality improvement purposes, and incorporating the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with internal and external constituents, promoting Algonquin College co-op programs to students, employers, faculty, and other services/departments
  • The candidates should be able to provide co-op work term monitoring and support to students and employers through ‘site visits’ to enhance job maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties and special projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in their role
