CanWest Farms Ltd based in Richmond, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of General labourer – farm. CanWest Farms Ltd has been farming since the 1960’s. CanWest Farms gives local customers the opportunity to shop directly from our farm. Our on-site Farm Market carries fruits and vegetables from local farmers, as well as, specialty items like honey and jams. Ready-picked and frozen blueberries are available for purchase in our market during the blueberry season (typically from the beginning of July to the end of August). To this day, we are proud to say that CanWest Farms remains family owned and operated. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible. The position of General labourer – farm is approved by LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment).

Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, be physically demanding, and be repetitive taskers
- The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
- The candidates should be able to work under tight deadlines
- The candidates should be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
- The candidates should be willing to for overtime
- The candidates should be able to work outdoors and in other miscellaneous crop farming
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be organized, flexible, and able to work as a team player
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to hand-harvest vegetables
- The candidates should be able to hoe crops, and plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops
- The candidates should be able to perform stone and/or wood picking
- The candidates should be able to carry out vegetable culling and be able to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
- The candidates should be able to detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry
- The candidates should be able to examine produce for quality and prepare for market
- The candidates should be able to set and monitor water lines, airflow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops
