Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should be Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program
Experience: Candidates should have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum in Nursing
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be capable of lifting and transferring patients, which may involve assisting individuals with limited mobility in tasks such as getting in and out of bed, repositioning, or moving from one surface to another
- The candidates should have good manual dexterity to assist with activities of daily living, such as dressing, grooming, and feeding patients
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should check the Active Directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
- The candidates should be in their 1st year of the practical nursing program; or 2nd year of the baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program
- The candidates should provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at Alberta Health Care Aides Directory Portal
- The candidates should attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living, and offering comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support
- The candidates should be able to work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community, or health care facilities
- The candidates should be able to play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
