Government of Nunavut’s Health department based in Iqaluit, NU is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Hospital equipment technician. Government of Nunavut’s Health department is committed to providing essential healthcare services to residents of the territory. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Inuktut, English or French Language
Education: Candidates should have a recognized Diploma in a technology or trades related field
Experience: Candidates should have two (2) years’ experience in equipment/appliance maintenance and repair

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have work experience within the Medical equipment service industry
  • The candidates should understand that this is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • The candidates should possess fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide primary support on hospital equipment devices across assigned health facilities in Nunavut
  • The candidates should be able to ensure patient safety and that hospital equipment assets are maintained and operated in optimal condition for safe and accurate application and interpretation in patient care
  • The candidates should be able to repair, maintain, and enhance the Iqaluit Health Services (HIS) assets, in addition to providing client care supports to meet operational needs
  • The candidates should be able to work in accordance with standards and processes established by the Hospital, Canadian Standards Association (CSA), National Fire Code Canada (NFCC), manufacturers, and accreditation to maintain HIS assets in optimal condition
  • The candidates should be able to work within Government of Nunavut (GN) acts and regulations, hospital policy and procedures, and municipal building codes to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance of $16 008. per year
