Shift: Weekend Shift; Saturday and Sunday from 6:00am – 6:00pm

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Red Seal Industrial Mechanic/ Millwright Certification
Experience: Candidates should have proven field experience 3 years or greater

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work for Maple Leaf Foods in Canada
  • The candidates should possess extensive knowledge of plant and process equipment operations and demonstrate the ability to execute planned and scheduled daily tasks with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to work in a team-based environment and possess strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates must have a full complement of personal/professional hand tools and have basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety, and environmental regulations with an absolute commitment to safety
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Maintenance Reliability process, including predictive and preventative maintenance, as well as predictive technologies such as the use of precision tools like laser alignment equipment, dial indicators, micrometers, and precision/optical levels, and testing equipment such as vibration analysis
  • The candidates should have possession of an Ontario Electrical license or Refrigeration “B” License and have a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • The candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and basic computer skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform lubrication routines related to processing equipment and building infrastructure used in the facility for daily production, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of machinery
  • The candidates should be able to prioritize safe plant operations and maintain a safe working environment for all employees, adhering to relevant health and safety protocols and able to actively participate in progressive, proactive maintenance routines, utilizing a predictive approach to identify and address potential issues in a 24-hour/day operation
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot and execute identified corrective maintenance requirements efficiently and effectively to minimize downtime and disruptions to production and able to carry out documented work requests and apply appropriate corrective action to resolve maintenance issues promptly
  • The candidates should be able to perform assigned work orders and accurately account for inventory and labor using a computerized maintenance management system (SAP) and able to interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings and schematics to understand equipment configurations and troubleshoot maintenance issues
  • The candidates should be able to machine and fabricate components on a case-by-case basis for equipment repairs or upgrades, utilizing appropriate tools and techniques and able to perform welding tasks for equipment repair or part fabrication as required, ensuring quality and structural integrity
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all job-related operations comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and Health & Safety requirements
  • The candidates should be able to understand and adhere to all plant Food/Health and Safety Policies, promoting a culture of safety and compliance among team members
