Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Baccalaureate in Nursing or Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have recent experience in an expanded nursing role

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should complete TDG certification within 2 months of hire
  • The candidates should complete Yukon Immunization certification within 2 months of hire
  • The candidates should be willing to travel occasionally within the Yukon

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have current registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority
  • The candidates should possess recent experience in an expanded nursing role that includes diagnosis and treatment in either primary care with management of infectious diseases, public health or related field, or STI services, or Management of reportable communicable diseases
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in multiple communicable diseases and nursing principles and practices
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, communication, organization, and flexibility and exhibit the ability to plan, organize and manage a case load effectively
  • The candidates should display excellent ability to build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships through collaboration and showcase excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to work autonomously and also within a multi-disciplinary team environment and demonstrate sound ethical decision-making skills
  • The candidates should show commitment to excellent client service and TB screening and possess RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector screening
  • The candidates should hold a valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent and have current Yukon RN Registration in good standing (prior to start date)
  • The candidates should hold a current CPR-HCP issued within the last 2 years and should have WHMIS 2015 certification (within one month of hire)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide physical and risk assessments relating to infectious disease, including testing and counseling, interpretation of test results, diagnosis, treatment, case management, immunization, outbreak, pandemic response, and referrals
  • The candidates should be able to manage disease investigations, contact tracing, and follow-up activities for Yukon’s Reportable Disease List, including but not limited to COVID-19, sexually transmitted infections, reportable bloodborne diseases, vaccine-preventable diseases, enteric and zoonotic diseases, and outbreak management as required
  • The candidates should be able to provide guidance and support to other healthcare providers in Yukon in the management of reportable communicable diseases
  • The candidates should be able to help foster an environment in which communities, families, and individuals can achieve and maintain optimal health through the provision of accurate and timely health information, health education/promotion, disease prevention, and treatment services
