Salary: $16.00 to $28.00 hourly for 40 to 44 hours per week
Employment Type: Full time, APPRENTICE JOB
Location: 4250 47 avenue Bay F, Olds, AB, T4H 1T9
Shifts: Day, 08:00 to 17:00
Work setting: In shop
Security and safety: Driving record should checked (abstract) and driver’s validity licence should checked
Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Own tools/equipment: Candidates should have tools, steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles and gloves
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates need experience of 3 years to less than 5 years
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Candidates must have Driver’s License (Class 3 or D), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement and Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to pay attention to detail

- The candidate should have specialization on diesel engine repair like fuel injection system, exhaust system, cooling system, air conditioning system, lubrication system, engine control system, major internal engine repairs or overhaul and installation and alignment of engines and machinery
- The candidate should have specialization on mechanical maintenance and repair like mechanical transmissions, drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, highway vehicle tires and wheels and brake system
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to instruct apprentices
- The candidate should be able to troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- The candidate should be able to diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
- The candidate should be able to adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
- The candidate should be able to keep maintenance reports and documentation
- The candidate should be able to test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
- The candidate should be able to clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
- The candidate should be able to perform repair work on heavy trucks
- The candidate should be able to service attachments and working tools
- The candidate should be able to verify and repair emission control systems
