Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a bachelor of Science Degree in related discipline with wet lab based component or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum three years of relevant technical laboratory experience in a professional or academic setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in the maintenance of a laboratory and laboratory equipment
  • The candidates should possess experience applying laboratory safety, biosafety, decontamination, and protocol procedures, and providing training for lab safety procedures and standards
  • The candidates should have experience with laboratory health and safety protocols and training
  • The candidates should have experience working in a highly complex organization with multi-stakeholders
  • The candidates should have knowledge of biosafety, chemical safety, and proper handling and disposal procedures, with knowledge and experience with biosafety level 2 labs and radiation labs being preferable
  • The candidates should demonstrate a sound understanding of research tools and technologies relevant to scholarly research, with a proven ability to quickly learn new systems, technologies, and tools
  • The candidates should have Sound knowledge and ability to set up, operate, and calibrate complex laboratory equipment, including computer-operated equipment, is required
  • The candidates should have the ability to articulate complex concepts and present information to all levels and types of audiences
  • The candidates should have excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills are necessary
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate on initiatives with a wide variety of contacts
  • The candidates should demonstrate adaptability and flexibility within an unpredictable, fast-paced environment
  • The candidates should have strong attention to detail and demonstrated judgment, tact, and discretion are essential
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently and as a team member
  • The candidates should have experience working within a teaching laboratory

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to act as the first point of contact for general lab enquiries
  • The candidates should troubleshoot issues with lab equipment and/or workstations
  • The candidates should coordinate routine maintenance of lab equipment
  • The candidates should liaise with the service provider to coordinate the resolution of technical/administrative issues
  • The candidates should keep well-informed on changes to health and safety legislation and practices
  • The candidates should identify and report facility repair and/or maintenance needs
  • The candidates should provide safety training and ensure compliance with lab safety procedures and standards
  • The candidates should serve as a technical resource on laboratory protocols, and experimental procedures and equipment
