Location: Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON
Shifts: Day, Weekend, 08:00 to 18:00
Type of crops: Apples, cherries, garlic, grapes, orchard fruit, potatoes, and vineyard

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work independently, demonstrating self-sufficiency and reliability, and be comfortable performing repetitive tasks, maintaining efficiency and accuracy
  • The candidates should be able to handle heavy loads, ensuring safe and effective lifting and carrying, and work in physically demanding conditions, managing strenuous activities and maintaining stamina
  • The candidates should have strong hand-eye coordination, facilitating precise and coordinated movements, and the ability to distinguish between colors, ensuring accurate color identification and differentiation
  • The candidates should have strong attention to detail, focusing on precision and quality in their work, and be able to stand for extended periods, maintaining focus and productivity throughout their shift
  • The candidates should be able to perform tasks involving bending, crouching, and kneeling as required, and manage overtime as needed, adapting to extended work hours when necessary
  • The candidates should be able to work in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout their shift, and handle weight, with the capacity to manage loads of up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

  • The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills, effectively communicating and interacting with others, and demonstrate flexibility, adapting to changing conditions and requirements
  • The candidates should be organized, managing tasks and responsibilities systematically and effectively, and be reliable, consistently performing duties and fulfilling obligations

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to apply the technique of hoeing between the rows, clean the crops, clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas, and cut agricultural crops
  • The candidates should be able to divide freshly harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots, grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, color, and volume to fetch a high price in the market, and guide growing shoots into optimal development positions
  • The candidates should be able to hand harvest vegetables, maintain and manage the growth of vines, vine canopy, and grapes, pack fruits and vegetables, and pick row and orchard crops
  • The candidates should be able to plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops, remove manually all suckers and water sprouts, shear and shape trees and plants with a knife, and sort fruits and vegetables
  • The candidates should be able to tie and secure plants, weed, harvest crops, and load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, farm produce, livestock, and poultry
