Salary: $16.55 hourly for 40 to 60 hours per week

Location: Niagara on the Lake, ON
Shifts: Day, Weekend, 08:00 to 18:00
Transportation information: Own transportation
Work setting: Rural area, Various locations, Willing to relocate and Relocation costs not covered by employer
Type of product: Fruit trees
Type of crops: Apples, Cherries, Garlic, Grapes, Potatoes, Orchard fruit and Vineyard

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be proficient in fruit and vegetable combination farming, experienced in working outdoors
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable in viticulture and comfortable working at heights
  • The candidates should be able to work in wet/damp conditions, adaptable to dusty environments, and able to handle and work in hot conditions
  • The candidates should be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment and capable of performing repetitive tasks with precision
  • The candidates should have experience in handling heavy loads and be physically fit to meet the demands of a physically demanding role
  • The candidates should possess a keen attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and the ability to distinguish between colors accurately
  • The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday and be able to stand for extended periods as required
  • The candidates should be flexible in performing tasks that involve bending, crouching, and kneeling and be willing to work overtime when necessary
  • The candidates should have strong manual dexterity skills

  • The candidates should be known for their flexibility in adapting to changing work environments and demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making processes
  • The candidates should be highly organized in managing tasks and responsibilities, effective team players fostering collaboration and cooperation

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to collect brushes, perform clipping, and deleafing
  • The candidates should be able to train fruit trees, grade crops, and hand harvest vegetables
  • The candidates should be able to hoe crops, lower crops, and maintain/manage the growth of vines, vine canopy, and grapes
  • The candidates should be able to plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops, perform shoot positioning, suckering, tie plants, and weed crops
  • The candidates should be able to harvest crops, examine produce for quality, and prepare it for the market
  • The candidates should be able to write daily basic progress reports
