Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in customer service and making deliveries or working as a driver
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in all types of weather
- The candidates should have the availability to be on-call
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s license with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
- The candidates should have the ability to read, write, and speak English and/or French
- The candidates should have experience working in a production environment, which is considered an asset
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work various shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends as an on-call delivery agent (also known as a letter carrier)
- The candidates should be able to represent Canada Post in their community and ensure customers and businesses receive the mail and parcels they’re waiting for
- The candidates should be able to seize the opportunity to learn about the business of mail operations and the available jobs at Canada Post as an on-call postal clerk
- The candidates should be able to handle the responsibilities of a temporary on-call position with dedication and enthusiasm
- The candidates should be able to start their day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
- The candidates should be able to load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle
- The candidates should be able to spend most of their day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on their route
- The candidates should be able to return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery
- The candidates should be able to work inside a sorting facility, sorting mail and packages
- The candidates should be able to work various shifts (may include evenings/nights and weekends)
- The candidates should be able to operate material handling equipment
- The candidates should be able to receive and accept mail items
- The candidates should be able to sort, scan, sequence, and batch mail items
- The candidates should be able to transfer and dispatch parcels and packets
- The candidates should be able to perform other postal clerk duties as required
- The candidates should be able to complete reports and documentation
