Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in customer service

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
  • The candidates should be able to work in all types of weather
  • The candidates should have the availability to be on-call, possibly during evenings and weekends

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
  • The candidates should have experience making deliveries or working as a driver
  • The candidates should have experience working in a production environment is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to start their day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
  • The candidates should be able to load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle
  • The candidates should spend most of their day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on their route
  • The candidates should return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery
  • The candidates should be able to work inside a sorting facility, sorting mail and packages
  • The candidates should be able to work various shifts, which may include evenings, nights, and weekends
  • The candidates should be capable of operating material handling equipment
  • The candidates should be responsible for receiving and accepting mail items
  • The candidates should be able to sort, scan, sequence, and batch mail items
  • The candidates should handle the transfers and dispatching of parcels and packets
  • The candidates should perform other postal clerk duties as required
  • The candidates should be able to complete reports and documentation
