Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
Experience: Candidates should have Home Care Experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • The candidates should hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • The candidates should possess a driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
  • The candidates should be proficient in utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • The candidates should be capable of providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to utilize strong assessment, organizational, and leadership skills to provide leadership and supervision of health care aides
  • The candidates should be able to deliver quality nursing care to clients in the community, playing a key role on the interdisciplinary team and collaborating in the delivery of holistic, client, and family-centered care
  • The candidates should be able to work independently in client homes, lift and carry medical bags, and be comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should be able to utilize strong oral and written communication skills to deliver quality nursing care to clients in all developmental stages in the community
  • The candidates should be able to use experience in wound care, palliative care, and client teaching to take a collaborative approach to meeting health goals, contribute to nursing diagnoses, and participate in nursing interventions and outcomes
