Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
Experience: Candidates should have recent acute care medicine experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning
- The candidates should be able to move, push, pull, and lift weights greater than 50 lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
- The candidates should hold current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification and completed Blood and TPN modules from the CLPNA
- The candidates should attach a resume and cover letter with their application to ensure their skills and qualifications are considered
- The candidates should be able to work to the full scope of practice (physically, mentally, and emotionally) in a very busy, fast-paced Gastrointestinal or Hepatology Unit or basic computing skills
- The candidates should be able to work within the posted position rotation and shifts and possess excellent communication, critical thinking, and time management skills and Connect Care training
- The candidates should demonstrate in-depth knowledge of infection prevention and control guidelines and procedures and recent GI, hepatology, and TB medicine experience and more than 2 years in acute care medicine
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills as part of an inter professional health care team
- The candidates should be able to provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while being guided by their education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures
- The candidates should be able to reflect the shared vision and values of AHS in their role as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
