Salary: $20.50 to $25.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 44 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract Full time
Location: Scarborough, ON
Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, To be determined, Early Morning, Morning, 08:30 to 16:30
Target audience: Persons with Alzheimer’s disease, adolescents, adults, convalescent, elderly, females, kindergarten age (4 – 5 years), males, newborn (including expecting mother), persons with a disability, persons with an intellectual disability, persons with mental health disabilities, persons with physical disabilities, school age (6 – 12 years), terminally ill, toddler to pre-school (1 – 3 years), and young adults
Work setting: Room and board provided, willing to relocate, and employer’s home

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 to less than 3 years
Area of specialization: Teaching
Specialization or experience: Green economy sector, and specialized environmental skills and knowledge
Security and safety: Criminal record check, confidential security clearance, basic security clearance, and reference required

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be non-smoking
  • The candidates should be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling as required for the job tasks
  • The candidates should be able to handle a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout their work shifts
  • The candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment
  • The candidates should be capable of handling heavy loads as part of their job responsibilities
  • The candidates should be aware that overtime may be required for this position
  • The candidates should understand that the job is physically demanding
  • The candidates should be prepared for repetitive tasks as part of their daily routine
  • The candidates should be comfortable sitting for extended periods if necessary
  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • The candidates should be capable of handling weight up to 9 kg (20 lbs) as part of their job requirements

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to care for pets responsibly and with compassion
  • The candidates should be able to administer bedside and personal care to clients as required
  • The candidates should be able to administer medications following prescribed guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to assist clients in water, such as in a pool setting
  • The candidates should be able to assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene with sensitivity and respect
  • The candidates should be able to assist in regular exercise routines, for example, taking clients for walks
  • The candidates should be able to assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of the householder
  • The candidates should be able to change non-sterile dressings according to established protocols
  • The candidates should be able to collect specimens for testing when necessary
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate infant care techniques to new parents effectively
  • The candidates should be able to feed clients or assist them in feeding themselves as required
  • The candidates should be able to launder clothing and household linens with care
  • The candidates should be able to mend clothing and linens as needed
  • The candidates should be able to perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a tidy environment
  • The candidates should be able to plan therapeutic diets and menus based on individual requirements
  • The candidates should be able to provide companionship to clients, fostering a supportive and engaging environment
  • The candidates should be able to provide personal care with attention to detail and dignity
  • The candidates should be able to shop for food and household supplies efficiently.
  • The candidates should be able to prepare and serve nutritious meals that meet dietary needs and preferences
  • The candidates should be able to cook a variety of dishes, following recipes and dietary guidelines as necessary
