Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience: Candidates should have Loss Prevention experience. This should include a strong understanding and knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada relating to theft and fraud offences, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Trespass act, and Privacy acts
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a valid Loss Prevention License
- The candidates should possess communication, observation, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to walk the warehouse and perimeter up to 8 hours a day to monitor safety and security concerns
- The candidates should be able to observe, detect, prevent, and apprehend shoplifters within our locations
- The candidates should be able to detain and interview shoplifters when warranted
- The candidates should be able to observe, detect, and report internal dishonesty to the Warehouse Manager and Regional Loss Prevention Manager for approval to investigate
- The candidates should be able to report potential internal theft situations to the warehouse manager
- The candidates should be able to detect, identify, and report possible shrink reduction opportunities within our operations to Management
- The candidates should be able to prepare reports for internal use and for potential prosecution
- The candidates should be able to maintain evidence collected and report files from investigations
- The candidates should be able to testify in court concerning theft investigations
- The candidates should be able to follow and maintain knowledge of Costco procedures and applicable laws in the performance of duties. They should attend meetings and seminars regarding loss prevention
- The candidates should be able to teach and coach Loss Prevention topics, policies, and procedures to other members of the Warehouse Team
- The candidates should be able to communicate with other area Costco Loss Prevention Clerks and area businesses to exchange information about current, local theft threats
