Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of BOMI Certificate
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and work overtime, including evenings and weekends
  • The candidates should possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check Satisfactory Security Check and Child Abuse Registry
  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and be able to work in other locations within the Division
  • The candidates should be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including sitting, lifting, reaching, working at heights, and in confined spaces

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have demonstrated experience with general building, grounds, and equipment maintenance including performing preventative and corrective maintenance
  • The candidates should have knowledge of workplace health and safety policies and legislation and ability to analyze and problem solve
  • The candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationships
  • The candidates should have strong verbal communication skills and strong written communication skills
  • The candidates should possess a trade designation (5th class Power Engineer, partial or full trades certificate)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of tasks relating to the operation and maintenance of government facilities such as office buildings, housing units, and correctional centres
  • The candidates should be able to carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities inside and outside of the buildings
  • The candidates should be able to maintain heating and cooling equipment and assist tradespersons and groundskeepers
  • The candidates should be able to perform daily checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance on life safety systems and help maintain client relations
