Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have successful completion of high school OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience or Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) OR Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in electricity
Experience: Candidates should have three years experience in servicing, repairing and operating the electrical systems of office, commercial, institutional or special-purpose buildings and training with building controls programming

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate integrity and respect, adeptly think things through, show initiative and be action-oriented, work effectively with others, ability to communicate
  • The candidates should be available to work overtime on short notice, available to travel for a few days and available according to the rotation schedule established with other technicians
  • The candidates should be able to lift loads of more than 10 kilograms (kg) and Wear clothing and safety equipment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess knowledge of electrical installations and current techniques for maintenance and control of electrical systems in office, commercial, institutional, or special-purpose buildings
  • The candidates should hold a valid electrician’s certificate issued by the province of Quebec OR a valid journeyman electrician’s competency certificate issued by the Commission de la Construction du Québec (CCQ)
  • The candidates should have client service competency at Level 1, Security clearance at the Reliability status level, client’s security clearance, valid class 5 driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate, service, repair, and modify the electrical power supply, carry out maintenance work (both preventive and corrective), inspect electrical material and systems, and diagnose potential problems, safety hazards, operating failures, and defects
  • The candidates should be able to develop and validate new electrical installations or modify existing ones
  • The candidates should be able to maintain, repair, modify, and install electrical and electro-mechanical components, as well as heating and cooling systems, the fire protection system, the access/security control system, switchgear and transformers, and install wiring and electrical conduits, indoor lighting systems, and lighting equipment
  • The candidates should be able to recommend to superiors the purchase of materials, supplies, and tools and the engagement of contractual maintenance services, as well as providing estimates of the materials needed to develop work plans and schedules
  • The candidates should be able to assist other employees in different trades in emergencies, plan, supervise, and check the work of contractors and correct, adapt, and revise specifications prior to calls for tenders
