Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should hold a valid Class G driver’s licence issued by the Province of Ontario
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should stay up to date with the latest rail vehicle equipment and the most current testing and repair procedures and equipment
  • The candidates should have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements for passengers and employees

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Province of Ontario Certificate of Qualification for a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (Licence 313A), issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
  • The candidates should be able to pass tests assessing knowledge, theory, and practical requirements of the job
  • The candidates should enrol in and successfully complete the TTC’s Rail Technology Program
  • The candidates should attend and successfully complete training programs in forklift operation, lifting devices, safe use of hoists and overhead cranes, fall protection awareness, scaffold safety, spills training, WHMIS, Subway/SRT Rule Book, ozone depletion (ODP/CFC) certification, and Oxy-Acetylene torch awareness and brazing – torch, as scheduled by management

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to perform inspections, cleaning, troubleshooting, testing, adjustments, maintenance, overhaul, repair, and/or replacement of vehicle heating and air conditioning systems and related components on various revenue and non-revenue rail vehicles
  • The candidate should be able to perform inspections, modifications, adjustments, or replacements of electrical and mechanical units and components on revenue and non-revenue rail vehicles
  • The candidate should be able to inspect and maintain the TR rail vehicle fire suppression system
  • The candidate should be able to perform repairs and complete projects on equipment located within the maintenance shops
  • The candidate should be able to treat passengers and employees with respect and dignity, ensuring the needs of individuals with disabilities are accommodated in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and related orders
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate behaviours that promote diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment free from discrimination and harassment
  • The candidate should be able to help remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers in line with TTC’s commitments under the OHRC, AODA, and TTC policies

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get $1.75/hr for all regular hours worked
