Supervision: Heavy duty equipment mechanics
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 5 years or more
Area of specialization: Engine repair, 4-wheel drive, electrical and electronic system, diesel engines, diagnostics, alignment, steering and suspension, brake system, fuel and emission system, ignition and electrical system, standard transmission, drive train components, welding, imported vehicles, and front end components
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
Credentials: Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification, Automotive Service Technician (Fuel and Electrical Systems) Trade Certification, Automotive Service Technician (Steering, Suspension and Brakes) Trade Certification, and Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certificate
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be capable of working in dusty conditions as part of their responsibilities
- The candidates should be comfortable working in noisy environments
- The candidates should demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in tasks and assignments
- The candidates should be able to stand for extended periods during their work
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate dependability, consistently fulfilling assigned tasks and responsibilities
- The candidates should exercise good judgment in decision-making and problem-solving

Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions, inspect the motor in operation, road test motor vehicles, and test automotive systems and components
- The candidates should be able to adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems, diagnose faults and malfunctions, and confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the unit
- The candidates should be able to repair or replace mechanical units or components, test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications, and perform scheduled maintenance service
- The candidates should be able to test and adjust units to specifications, complete reports to record problems and work performed, and review work orders and discuss work with the supervisor
