bec equipment based in Mississauga, ON is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Mechanic, heavy equipment – diesel engine. bec equipment is a locally family-owned and operated Canadian company with over 40 years of experience in parts, sales, and service for the off-highway equipment industry. In our 30 000 square ft warehouse and repair facility, we service and repair engines, axles, transmissions, differentials, and converters for off-highway machines. Our objective is to help our clients grow their businesses and increase the level of customer satisfaction. We provide the highest quality of off-highway equipment, parts, and service, we also represent many types of diesel engines OEM. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $42.00 to $46.00 hourly for 42.5 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment – Full time
Location: Mississauga, ON
Shifts: Day
Work Setting: In shop

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates should have standard educational qualification such as registered Apprenticeship certificate
Experience: The candidate should have at least 5 years or more experience in a related industry.
Diesel engine repair specialization: Fuel injection system, Exhaust system, Cooling system, Air conditioning system, Lubrication system, Engine control system, Installation and alignment of engines and machinery
Powered equipment repair specialization: Compressors, Electric generators, Industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts
Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Mechanical transmissions, Drive trains and final drives, Hydraulic transmissions, Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, Differentials, Brake system
Security and safety: Driver’s validity licence check
Transportation/travel information: Valid driver’s licence
Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Own tools/equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and pay attention to detail.
  • The candidate should be willing to work in bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking position for extended periods of time.

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be accurate, flexible, reliable, initiative, judgemental and focused on client.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required, adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
  • The candidate should test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications, clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work, service attachments and working tools, verify and repair emission control systems.
