Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, counselling or other university degree relevant to the practice of counselling and psychotherapy from a recognized institution
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a member in good standing of a Professional College (OCSWSSW or CRPO) or in the process of registration
  • The candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • The candidates should possess an in-depth understanding of mental health and addiction issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to refer children with mental health and addiction problems to appropriate services
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about the mental health community resources available
  • The candidates should have a commitment to working cooperatively with clients and members of the interdisciplinary team
  • The candidates should demonstrate openness to the customs and habits of other cultures
  • The candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have knowledge and ability to use basic computer software
  • The candidates should have excellent knowledge of oral and written French and English
  • The candidates should be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients
  • The candidates should have access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work under the supervision of the Director of Specialized Services and the Team Coordinator
  • The candidates should be able to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide counseling intervention services to Francophone children and adolescents (0-18 years) with adjustment difficulties, behavioral issues, and other mental health issues
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the healthy development of children and adolescents and promote the development and maintenance of a good parent-child relationship through the provided services and inherent programs
  • The candidates should be able to process applications to the child and youth mental health program according to established procedures
  • The candidates should be able to assess strengths and needs of children, youth, and parents using questionnaires or standardized assessment tools such as the CHMYN (including monitoring and closure)
  • The candidates should be able to prepare service plans for children and youth served based on available reports, initial parent/youth meetings, and CHMYN assessments and other assessment tools as required
  • The candidates should be able to provide counseling, education, and support services to maintain and promote emotional, social, behavioral, and relationship functioning and wellbeing in the context of daily life
  • The candidates should be able to conduct case presentations to the mental health team with the clinical manager according to established procedures
  • The candidates should be able to consult the clinical manager during the probation period and according to the requirements of the professional college
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that all client interventions are evaluated following the closure of a file and that the results are noted
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that a service plan is developed and reviewed regularly
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that summary reports are completed prior to the transfer of a file and the closure of the intervention
  • The candidates should be able to deliver psychoeducational programs in response to requests received
  • The candidates should be able to refer families/youth to specialized services as needed
  • The candidates should be able to support families, children, and youth who require specialized services
  • The candidates should be able to ensure coordination and case management when other partners/agencies are involved with the client’s file in accordance with established procedures
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that the approaches and/or programs recommended in the service plan are evidence-based
  • The candidates should be able to develop and facilitate educational and support groups for children, adolescents, and their parents according to the needs of the clientele
  • The candidates should be able to organize workshops and activities to raise awareness of mental health issues
  • The candidates should be able to serve on community tables or committees to communicate the needs of the Centre’s clients
  • The candidates should be able to share information about the activities of external committees with the mental health team
  • The candidates should be able to liaise and make referrals to community agencies to improve access to French language services
  • The candidates should be able to prepare reports and maintain records
  • The candidates should be able to maintain program statistics for evaluation and research purposes
  • The candidates should be able to ensure health promotion in the francophone community by aiming for the overall development of community health that includes all aspects of an individual’s life
  • The candidates should be able to perform all other related work as assigned or required
