Work setting: Machinery installation, Various locations, Maintenance, Service, Repair, Overhaul, New construction, Machine set-up
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years’
Equipment and machinery experience: Conveyor, Fans and blowers, Power tools, Pumps and compressors, Tool grinders, Hand tools
Area of specialization: Start-up and testing, Shutdown operations, Rigging and handling, Bearing, seals and packing, Optical alignment
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses/goggles
Credentials: Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Trade Certification, Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) basic safety orientation (BSO), First Aid Certificate, Hoisting and Rigging Training
Security and safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract)
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be physically demanding
- The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
- The candidates should be able to stand for extended periods
- The candidates should be willing to for overtime
- The candidates should be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs.)
- The candidates should be able to handle heavy loads
- The candidates should be able to work at at heights, noise, odours, dusty area, and confined spaces
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, and be able to work as a team player
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to coach and instruct apprentices, detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions, construct foundations for machinery
- The candidates should be able to repair or replace defective machinery parts, fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up, estimate costs and materials
- The candidates should be able to perform routine maintenance work on machinery, read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications, operate machining tools to fabricate parts
- The candidates should be able to assembling machinery and equipment (prior to installation), installing machinery and equipment
- The candidates should be able to operate hoisting and lifting equipment
