Work setting: Home care and visiting care agency
Weight handling: Up to 9 kg (20 lbs)
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
Experience: Candidates need experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Candidates must have CPR Certificate
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to work under pressure, in fast-paced environment, manually dexter, pay attention to detail, able to distinguish between colours, walk, stand for extended periods and also bending, crouching, kneeling and sound discrimination
- The candidate should be physically strong and also a combination of sitting, standing, walking
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to work with being focused on the client, in a flexible environment, in an organized way and also take initiative
- The candidate should be someone who can judge, dependable, reliable and also a team player
- The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher, collect specimens and also administer first aid in emergency situations
- The candidate should be able to supervise patients’ exercise routines and also administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas
- The candidate should be able to supply and empty bed pans, take patients’ blood pressure, temperature and pulse and also make beds and maintain patients’ rooms
- The candidate should be able to serve meal trays and feed patients, weigh, lift, turn and position patients and also deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments
- The candidate should be able to bathe, dress and groom patients and also assist with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment
- The candidate should be able to prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and sterilizing operative areas and also accompany patients on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
