Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master’s degree
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience as a Nurse Practitioner

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure
  • The candidates should hold current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Connect Care and MS Office Suite
  • The candidates should have experience in a wide range of cardiac assessment, treatment, and therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up care

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan and integrate clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients
  • The candidates should be able to utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems
  • The candidates should be able to manage patients in the FMC Cardiac Structural Heart Program as part of a team, including cardiologists, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health members and provide directed, autonomous, comprehensive, holistic care to the medical cardiology population
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the program and patient care through advanced clinical practice, leadership, consultations, referrals, education, and research and report to the Manager, Cardiac Intervention, Cardiac Diagnostics, and Cardiac Specialty Clinics, and function as part of a multidisciplinary team working closely with the Division of Cardiology within the Structural Heart Program
  • The candidates should be able to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to provide care with a focus on medical cardiology to patients who present with acute medical illness for medical assessment, care, and treatment
  • The candidates should be able to provide comprehensive direct patient care as a central member of the team, including comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, intervention, management, referral, and evaluation of client care across the continuum of health care services
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership and actively participate in program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities and participate in interdisciplinary collaboration in the practice setting to ensure consistency for drug prescribing and distribution in accordance with provincial guidelines
