Salary: $15.87 to $18.91 hourly (to be negotiated) 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Full time, Permanent employment
Location: 381 Plains Road, Debert, NS B0M 1G0
Shifts
: 07:30 to 16:00
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence, Own transportation, Travel expenses not paid by employer, Public transportation is not available
Work setting: Rural area
Type of product: Coniferous trees, Deciduous trees

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years’
Credentials: Provincial licence/certification to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and pesticides
Equipment and machinery experience: Irrigation pumps and equipment, Mechanical seeder, Mechanical sprayer
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Gloves

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in outdoors, wet/damp, and hot area
  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, be physically demanding, and a repetitive tasker
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to stand, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
  • The candidates should be able to handle Hand-eye co-ordination
  • The candidates should be able to handle weight up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be reliable, should have efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to harvest seedlings and mix fertilizer
  • The candidates should be able to do weeding, spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides, transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings
  • The candidates should be able to apply fertilizers, report signs of insect or disease damage, assist in grafting activities
  • The candidates should be able to water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
  • The candidates should be able to clean work area
