Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates must have a valid card evidencing successful completion of standard first aid with CPR/AED level A or C from a Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) approved certifying authority
  • The candidates should be certified to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Red Cross
  • The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • The candidates should have experience with an industrial wellness program
  • The candidates should have a passion for promoting health and wellness
  • The candidates should have experience coaching on body mechanics
  • The candidates should have experience managing musculoskeletal disorders
  • The candidates should have experience in ergonomics
  • The candidates should have experience with federal and province-specific regulations
  • The candidates should have experience with Workers Compensation
  • The candidates should be proficient in digital recordkeeping
  • The candidates should have a Valid Provincial Primary Care Paramedic Certification from the Ministry of Health AND/OR the Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators
  • The candidates should have a Current valid Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification from the Department of Health AND/OR the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
  • The candidates should be a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Ministry of Health AND/OR the Provincial College of Nurses AND/OR Department of Health
  • The candidates should be a Registered Practical Nurse from the Ministry of Health AND/OR the Provincial College of Nurses AND/OR Department of Health
  • The candidates should have experience as a Military Medical Technician (Canada), Combat Medic (USA), Field Medic (USA), Healthcare Specialist (USA), Hospital Corpsman (USN), or Aerospace Medical Service Technician (USAF)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide triage, prompt first aid within the scope of your training, and/or referral to outside medical providers, if indicated
  • The candidates should be able to minimize the AA risk of injury through awareness, education, and proactive engagement
  • The candidates should be able to maintain all records of care provided to AAs
  • The candidates should be able to develop a first aid care plan for AAs recovering from an injury, focused on injury improvement, including self-care instructions as needed
  • The candidates should be able to manage the workers’ compensation and return to work process for AAs with work-related injuries
  • The candidates should be able to provide daily activity logs and end of shift reports
  • The candidates should be able to spend frequent time on the warehouse floor to interact and engage with AAs and managers to coach on observed at-risk work habits
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and ensure appropriate medical supply inventory is maintained
  • The candidates should be willing to be trained to teach First Aid/CPR/AED certification classes
  • The candidates should be able to work flexible shifts which could include days, nights, and/or weekends
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively
  • The candidates should display professional behavior
  • The candidates should be able to multitask and have exceptional time management skills
  • The candidates should be able to work in and embrace an inclusive and diverse atmosphere
  • The candidates should follow direction, policy, and procedures as per Amazon and local regulations
  • The candidates should maintain composure in emergencies and lead emergency response at the site
  • The candidates should be able to work closely with the WHS site manager, Wellness Specialists (WSs), and the WHS specialist
  • The candidates should be able to independently evaluate and provide first aid (e.g., for musculoskeletal injuries), advise Amazon Associates (AAs) on occupational and non-occupational injuries, and have great verbal communication skills
  • The candidates should be able to connect with AAs as well as Amazon Managers within the limits of their professional code and training where applicable
  • The candidates should enjoy learning and applying their knowledge about health & wellness to provide care for AAs on a daily basis
  • The candidates should be able to refer care to outside medical providers as needed and learn about provincial and federal regulations and risk analysis
