Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Red Seal Journeyman Painter certification
Experience: Candidates should have expertise in both interior and exterior painting projects with various painting techniques, tools, and equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be flexible, self-motivated, and able to take initiative, working independently when necessary
  • The candidates should have a Vulnerable Sectors Check should be obtained within 6 months of hire and Completion of a Transportation Dangerous Goods Certificate must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • The candidates should be capable of lifting heavy objects, willing to work in adverse weather conditions, and willing to work outside of the headquarters area for extended periods of time
  • The candidates should have experience working at heights of 6-10 feet and should be proficient in the use of personal protective equipment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be experienced in preventative maintenance inspections, such as checking conditions of various surfaces for moisture or other damages
  • The candidates should have experience working with related tradespeople in the development and maintenance of painting preventative maintenance schedules
  • The candidates should possess experience in supporting both internal and external clients with consultation and technical information services regarding color schemes, painting techniques, and the planning and execution of painting projects
  • The candidates should have knowledge of contract preparation, scheduling, and project management and demonstrate the ability to take direction and work effectively within a team environment
  • The candidates should have the ability to change priorities when directed and capable of recognizing and addressing safety issues
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of how to safely operate and maintain painting equipment and tools and exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • The candidates should hold a valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s License

  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of work to maintain Yukon government facilities both within Whitehorse and outside the Whitehorse area, including periodic preventative maintenance inspections
