Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an Undergraduate Degree in Environmental Technology, Environmental Planning and Design and Environmental Studies
Experience: Candidates should have two years’ experience in natural resource management, environmental planning agencies, park management planning
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have a related field, including one (1) year of progressive supervisory experience
- The candidate should have First Aid and CPR Certification, Wilderness First Aid Certification, hold a valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
- The candidate should be able to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check, as this is a Highly Sensitive Position
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to support the protection and sustainable use of the Park’s natural and cultural resources in accordance with Territorial legislation, the Nunavut Agreement (NA), and Inuit Impact Benefits Agreement (IIBA)
- The candidate should be able to direct daily operations of the assigned Park, including visitor services and facilities management
- The candidate should be able to enforce government regulations and ensure legislative compliance within the Park
- The candidate should be able to collaborate with the Manager of Park Facilities & Operations to develop and implement a Park Registration System and Emergency Response Plan aimed at visitor safety and enjoyment
- The candidate should be able to assist in developing and implementing the Park’s Capital Planning Program
- The candidate should be able to actively engage the local community in conservation efforts and promote appreciation of Nunavut’s heritage
- The candidate should be able to provide coaching and supervision to Park staff to maintain effective operational performance
