- The candidate should be 16 years of age or older
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to receive prescriptions from patients, follow provincial legal/regulatory conditions, and assess prescriptions for completeness name, address, DOB, allergies, third-party info, special requests, prescriber, generic/brand, prioritization with 21st Century guidelines)
- The candidate should be able to perform computer functions as directed by the pharmacist, including data entry, price checks, patient information entry/update, prescription interpretation and processing (including Latin abbreviations, drug recognition, dosage calculations), refills, report generation, and patient profile checks
- The candidate should be able to fill prescriptions (under pharmacist supervision), select appropriate products, perform the accuracy program (7-point, visual, DIN checks), count/measure/prepare products, label and organize for pharmacist checking, obtain approvals for verbal refills where authorized, and facilitate cognitive services
- The candidate should be able to maintain inventory control, assist the pharmacist in maintaining stock levels, check and pull expired medications monthly, clear the Will Call Bin regularly, process returns, order drugs and supplies (using preferred wholesalers), check off, price, and stock orders, zone pharmacy shelves, and apply interchangeable drug knowledge
- The candidate should be able to handle general housekeeping tasks, stock prescription supplies (vials, labels, bags), keep the dispensary clean and organized, maintain a clean/safe work environment, and clean/maintain packaging and dispensing equipment, computer, fax machine
- The candidate should be able to perform clerical organization tasks, including filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, correspondence, and memos, and complete administrative support functions as assigned journals, accounts receivable, aged trial balance)
- The candidate should be able to assist with OTC operations, including ordering, stocking, and performing cashier duties as assigned by the OTC manager or pharmacist
