Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
Experience: Candidates should have experience in construction, mining, or operating heavy machinery
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to work nights, overtime, and weekends, good written and oral communication skills
- The candidates should demonstrate dependability by following instructions and responding to supervisor direction
- The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varied temperatures and weather conditions, be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- The candidates should be prepared to participate in an assessment that will evaluate their ability to perform the essential functions of the position
Other Requirements:
The candidates should have basic welding and fitting skills, mechanical aptitude and possess a valid Class G driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to comply with all Ministry of Labour OH&S Acts and Regulations, strictly adhere to Lafarge Canada safety policies, wear prescribed PPE, and follow Lockout/Tagout and emergency response procedures
- The candidate should be able to operate fixed and mobile equipment to meet production and shipping needs, complete clean-up tasks using hand tools or skid steers, and safely work around rotating equipment
- The candidate should be able to perform pre-operational checks, scheduled maintenance, lubrication tasks, and minor repairs using appropriate procedures and manuals
- The candidate should be able to communicate equipment issues to supervisors, maintain environmental awareness, and adjust tasks based on daily operational priorities
