Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have successful completion of post-secondary degree in public policy, public administration, law, the social sciences or a related field
Experience: Candidates should have experience undertaking research and analysis in support of public policy and legislative development initiatives, preferably in a government setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to occasionally travel within and outside of the territory

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience planning, leading, or facilitating multi-staged projects, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders or government departments
  • The candidates should have experience providing strategic direction, advice, and recommendations on complex and diverse issues, preferably to senior management
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, self-awareness, and the ability to build relationships internally and with stakeholders
  • The candidates should possess the ability to research and analyze a variety of issues in support of developing policy options and drafting instructions
  • The candidates should have the ability to draft decision-making documents with attention to the audience and using clear language
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to think critically, analyze a broad variety of legislation, policy, or research areas, and make reasoned recommendations
  • The candidates should have strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to lead change and innovation and have strong writing skills to communicate policy recommendations effectively
  • The candidates should be analytical thinkers who are passionate about developing policies that promote the wellbeing and economic prosperity of Yukoners

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to contribute to policy development initiatives in collaboration with the Yukon Liquor Corporation (YLC) to align with strategic goals and mandate items
  • The candidates should be able to report to the Director of Policy, Communications, and Social Responsibility, providing insights and recommendations for implementing YLC’s policy objectives
  • The candidates should be able to conduct research, analyze data, and assess policy options to support decision-making processes
  • The candidates should be able to interpret legislation and contribute to the development of new policies or amendments to existing ones
  • The candidates should be able to manage work plans and timelines effectively to ensure policy objectives are met
  • The candidates should be able to engage with stakeholders and other departments to gather input and feedback on policy proposals
  • The candidates should be able to prepare decision documents, policy papers, and briefing notes for internal and external stakeholders, including the Minister’s office
