McCain based in Summerside, PE is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Potato Grader. McCain is a well-known Canadian multinational frozen food company. Our company is the world’s largest manufacturer of frozen potato products. We are well-known for our French fries and specialty potato products. Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates having standard educational qualification such as grade 12 education or GED preferred
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should have the ability to stand for periods of time and have the ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently, and 25 – 30 pounds occasionally
Other Requirements:
- The candidate must be willing to cross-train (other operational activities) and participate in team meetings, as required and also must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
- The candidate must be organized, able to work independently and collaboratively and be a team player with excellent attendance
- The candidate should have the ability to multitask and be detail oriented and goal driven
- The candidate must possess a good safety record and demonstrate “safety first’’ on a continual basis and must be self-motivated, observant, have good initiative and a positive attitude
- The candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment adapting to and embracing change as it occurs
- The candidate should have the ability to work varying hours, including some Saturdays and evenings as required
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be responsible for working at a conveyor line ensuring that potatoes are graded to various standards. These duties include sorting of off grade products as well.
- The candidate should be responsible to follow ALL Safety Policy and Procedures as outlined by the Company and quickly work with one or both arms and hands, reaching and grabbing out in the sorting process
- The candidate should be able to recognize product variations and also sort product into proper receptacles
- The candidate should be able to sort items moving on a continuous conveyor system and perform various production tasks may be assigned as required
