Position: Production supervisor – food and beverage processing

Salary: $15.65 to $25.00 hourly (to be negotiated) 120 to 160 hours per month
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Vancouver, BC
Work setting: Meat processing and/or packing plant/establishment
Supervision: 5-10 people, Staff in various areas of responsibility, Labourers in food, beverage and tobacco processing

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years’
Regulations knowledge: Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Credentials: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Certification
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to work at cold/refrigerated area

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be organized, flexible, reliable, and judgmental
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player
  • The candidate should have values and ethics

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizen and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position.
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to train staff/workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
  • The candidates should be able to recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions
  • The candidates should be able to prepare production and other reports, recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • The candidates should be able to supervise, co-ordinate and schedule (and possibly review) activities of workers, establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other work units
  • The candidates should be able to identify, evaluate, control and prevent hazards at all stages of the food production process
  • The candidates should be able to requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
