Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have hold an Interprovincial Red Seal Plumber certification
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a plumber
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have availability to teach during daytime, evenings, and weekends
- The candidates should demonstrate mastery of current materials, tools, equipment, and industry practices
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be a Licensed Plumber (Trade Code 306A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades, a G2 or G1 Gas Technician license, possess Ontario Water Works Association certification in the installation and testing of Backflow Devices (B64 legislation)
- The candidates should have in-depth knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying Section 7 of the Ontario Building Code
- The candidates should have formal studies in adult or higher education, experience with Learning Management Systems, especially the D2L platform
- The candidates should have experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as an industry trainer
- The candidates should have a network of contacts with other professionals and companies in the plumbing industry
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to deliver course curriculum in classroom and online, ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques
- The candidates should be able to ensure that course curricula remain current, relevant, and reflective of best practices, building code changes, and updates to occupational health and safety regulations
- The candidates should be able to tutor and provide academic counseling to students while evaluating their progress and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of their work within assigned courses
- The candidates should be able to define, evaluate, and validate learning outcomes and design appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning
- The candidates should be able to develop multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies to support the hybrid platform of Sheridan’s plumbing programs, incorporating appropriate educational technologies for an immersive online learning experience
- The candidates should be able to attend periodic faculty meetings and perform other related duties
