Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a 2-year Recreation and Leisure Studies Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience working in the field of Recreation

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have working knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher, excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • The candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as interpersonal skills
  • The candidate should be prepared to submit a criminal reference check with vulnerable sector screening (dated within the past 3 months) from their local police service, as a condition of employment and subject to approval by the Corporation
  • The candidate should possess a current Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR Level C, possess a valid ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and have access to a reliable personal vehicle for the duration of their employment, be aware that skill testing

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to develop and coordinate an inclusive, diverse, and engaging neighbourhood park program for children and families, offer a variety of drop-in activities throughout several parks, greenspaces, and facilities across the City of Brantford
  • The candidate should be able to thrive in a dynamic environment with daily changes while ensuring a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants
  • The candidate should be able to deliver a high level of customer service to children, families, and community members
  • The candidate should be able to perform administrative duties such as coordinating staff schedules and developing program plans
  • The candidate should be able to order program supplies and track inventory to ensure availability and organization
  • The candidate should be able to coordinate weekly themes and organize special events that engage participants and foster community spirit
  • The candidate should be able to complete program evaluations, maintain accurate records, and manage registration data
  • The candidate should be able to work effectively with staff and volunteers to create positive, inclusive, and educational experiences for participants
  • The candidate should be able to review and update program content regularly to ensure continuous improvement and relevance
  • The candidate should be able to collaborate with City staff to coordinate the use of facilities and equipment necessary for program delivery
