Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as Bachelor’s degree in nursing
Experience: Candidates should have Current clinical experience (within the last 12 months) as a Registered Nurse working in Critical Care

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work shift work and meet the physical demands of the job

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completion of an accredited nursing education program and should be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • The candidates should possess a current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification and have completion of an accredited Critical Care Training program OR 3 years of experience within the last 5 years in Critical Care
  • The candidates should have experience within the last 3 years caring for patients with mechanical ventilation, advanced cardiac monitoring, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, emergency cardiac arrest management, countershock, inotropes, and massive transfusions
  • The candidates should be willing to complete The Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPACCA) training or the critical care challenge process if required and should demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills as required
  • The candidates should have experience in an adult ICU setting that serves trauma, med/surg, cardiac, and neuro trauma patients
  • The candidates should have experience within the last 3 years caring for patients with transcutaneous and transvenous pacemakers, neuromuscular blocking agents, and continuous renal replacement therapy
  • The candidates should have experience supporting a code or rapid response team and hold a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • The candidates should have completed the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and should have Charge Nurse experience

  • The candidates should be able to collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate safe quality care following the policies and guidelines of the organization
  • The candidates should be able to advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety in all aspects of their work
  • The candidates should be able to display critical thinking and problem-solving skills while maintaining a professional and positive attitude
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues across the lifespan
