Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed an accredited nursing program and hold a current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province
Experience: Candidates should have two years of experience working as a nurse
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs, with shifts varying in length according to the event at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers
- The candidate should be available to work days, evenings, weekends, overnights, and statutory holidays
- The candidate should be willing to travel for mobile events in the community, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The candidate should be able to meet the physical requirement of lifting weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.)
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others, possess technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and demonstrate the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidate should have proficiency in a second language, which is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to leverage their ability to communicate effectively with donors to conduct registration and confidential screening, determine eligibility, and build and promote a positive donor experience
- The candidates should be able to utilize superb people skills to provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation
- The candidates should be able to draw on their knowledge and experience to provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, acting as team lead for collection events
- The candidates should be able to work with excellent interpersonal skills in a diverse team environment assisting in the collection of whole blood and/or apheresis blood components
- The candidates should be able to assist at mobile events within communities by setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly prepared for use
